Concept redesign

Custom Cooling & Contracting

  • Frisco, Texas
  • 10 trades
  • One-page site

Unsolicited concept redesign. Not client work, and not the business’s official site.

Custom Cooling & Contracting is a family-owned contractor in Frisco, Texas, working across HVAC, roofing, plumbing, electrical, and the rest of a 10-trade list. This concept replaces the Squarespace site with one page built around the house, the history, and a way to schedule.

Homepage of the Custom Cooling & Contracting concept redesign: a dark grid, the headline “One family. Every trade. From the roof down.”, and an illustrated house cross-section marking HVAC and heat.

Problem

The original Squarespace site scored 28/100 on Lighthouse mobile performance. Largest Contentful Paint was 30.0 seconds, and the page weighed 19.3MB. On a phone, a video overlay was broken. The page still had template placeholder text, and it showed reviews from an unrelated company in Tulsa.

What I built

A fast one-page site: an illustrated house hero, the company history from Oklahoma in 1978 to Texas in 2014, a section called “How a visit works”, the Dallas–Frisco service area, FAQs, a scheduling form, and LocalBusiness JSON-LD.

Approach

The site is one page. The hero is an illustrated cross-section of a house, with the trades marked on it, instead of a video background — the original mobile video overlay was broken, and the page weighed 19.3MB. History, the visit, the service area, and FAQs are separate sections so each question has a place. The scheduling form is part of the page. LocalBusiness JSON-LD states the business in structured data, which placeholder copy and another company’s reviews never did.

Details

  1. Ten trades, one contractor

Family-owned, in Frisco. HVAC, roofing, plumbing, and electrical, across 10 trades.

  2. History on the page

The company history runs from Oklahoma in 1978 to Texas in 2014.

  3. How a visit works

A section of that name walks through the visit, instead of leaving it implied.

  4. Service area

    Dallas–Frisco, stated on the page.

  5. FAQs and a scheduling form

Both sit on the same page as the rest of the site.

  6. LocalBusiness JSON-LD

Structured data for the business, on a page that no longer borrows another company’s reviews.
